Before joining the National Hockey League Chara played for HK Dukla Trencin, HC Sparta Praha, SHK 37 Piestany, Prince George Cougars, Kentucky Thoroughblades, and Lowell Lock Monsters. He has also played for Farjestads BK and HC Lev Praha. Chara was drafted #56 by the New York Islanders in the 1996 NHL Draft. He is the tallest player to ever play in the NHL at 6'9″.
