While working as a music producer on the 1997 film "The Pest," Malco was encouraged by the film's star John Leguizamo to pursue acting. In 1998, Malco made his television debut in an episode of the CBS fantasy drama series "Touched by an Angel." Also that year, he appeared in an episode of the sitcom "For Your Love." Malco had his first main role on a series from 2000 to 2001, when he played Jerry Hooten on the short-lived science-fiction show "Level 9." He landed his next role as a series regular in 2005, when he began playing wholesale marijuana dealer Conrad Shepard on the Showtime series "Weeds." Malco was a main cast member for the first three seasons of the show, and returned as a guest for the final season in 2012.
