Not to be confused with the NBA player Robert Parish (one "r" in the last name), the late film director Robert Parrish was born in Columbus, Georgia in January 1916. He began acting with his siblings after his family relocated to Los Angeles. He began his professional acting career in the late 1920s, and went on to appear in a steady string of projects throughout the 30s, including "All Quiet on the Western Front" and "City Lights". He began working as an editor in the late 30s, and went on to edit such projects as "Mary of Scotland", "Young Mr. Lincoln", "Drums Along the Mohawk", "The Grapes of Wrath", and "The Battle of Midway", among other projects. He went on to earn an Oscar for his work editing the film, "Body and Soul". He received another nomination two years later.
