What is Prince George's net worth?

Prince George of Cambridge is a member of the British royal family who has a net worth of $500 thousand. Prince George is the son of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. He will eventually be the King of England. His official title and style is His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge. As the great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, and grandson of King Charles, George is second in line to the British throne, marking him as a significant figure in the modern British monarchy. When his father William becomes King, George will inherit an extremely valuable real estate portfolio called the Duchy of Cornwall which we detail in the next section of this article.

The Duchy of Cornwall

According to British royal law, the eldest child of the reigning monarch inherits possession of the Duchy of Cornwall. This title is essentially a large real estate portfolio that allows the Prince to have a substantial income. The Duchy was established in 1337 by Edward III to provide income for the heir apparent. When Charles becomes King, William will automatically become Prince of Wales and beneficiary of the Cornwall Trust. When William becomes King, George will inherit the trust. And so on.

The U.K. government considers the trust a "crown body" which therefore means its income can not be taxed. The tax-exempt status has been challenged several times and as a result Prince Charles has voluntarily paid taxes on the income since 1993. He voluntarily paid a 50% tax rate on the income for about a decade. He started paying 25% when he got married in 1991. From 1993 to the present he has paid the standard UK income tax rate each year.

The duchy owns 133,000 acres of land in the UK over 23 counties. The land is used for farming, residential housing and commercial real estate. As of this writing, the estimated value of the land is $1.1 billion.

In a typical year the trust produces a little over $20 million in income. In some years the income has topped $30 million.

Early Life

Prince George Alexander Louis was born on July 22, 2013 at the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London.

His arrival was celebrated with gun salutes and the Tower Bridge was lit in blue. His name was announced a few days after his birth, adhering to royal tradition.

Shortly after his birth, Prince George was introduced to the world on the steps of the hospital, swaddled in his mother's arms, while his proud father looked on.

Prince George's parents have been proactive in providing a semblance of normalcy in their children's lives, despite their royal status. George's early childhood was spent primarily at the family's country residence, Anmer Hall, where he was away from the prying eyes of the media. His first public engagement came at the age of eight months when he accompanied his parents on a royal tour to New Zealand and Australia, becoming the youngest royal to undertake an official tour.

Education and Interests

At the age of two, George began attending the Westacre Montessori School Nursery in Norfolk, following in the footsteps of his father and uncle, Prince Harry, who also attended Montessori nurseries. The choice of school reflected William and Kate's commitment to give George a grounded upbringing.

In 2017, George started at Thomas's Battersea, a private school in London. His first day at school was a highly anticipated event, marked with photographs of George in his school uniform, looking slightly apprehensive but brave, holding his father's hand.

Although George's parents have been careful to shield him from excessive media attention, he has made several public appearances, each one tracked and celebrated by the international press. Memorable moments include his appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Trooping the Colour ceremony and his playful interactions with his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, at charity polo matches.

George has also been included in several family portraits and was notably a page boy at his uncle, Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle. In these instances, George has shown a charming blend of royal poise and childhood innocence.

Inspired by his father and grandfather, Prince Charles, George has shown an early interest in conservation. The young prince is reportedly a keen animal lover, particularly fond of exploring the outdoors. He even received a special gift from Sir David Attenborough, a fossilized shark tooth, a gesture that highlighted his growing interest in the natural world.

George has been spotted at numerous polo matches and football games, cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines. His passion for football became quite evident when he was seen celebrating with his family at the UEFA Euro 2020 Championships, clad in a suit and tie, emulating his father's style.
