Early Life and Education

Mamie Gummer was born on August 3, 1983. Her mother is actress Meryl Streep and her father is sculptor Don Gummer. Mamie and her older brother and two younger sisters grew up in Los Angeles, California and Salisbury, Connecticut. She was educated at Miss Porter's School and later graduated from Kent School.  She went on to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, graduating in 2005.

Film Career

Gummer first appeared on the big screen when she was just a toddler, credited as "Natalie Stern" in her mother's 1986 film "Heartburn." As an adult, she made her film acting debut with a small role in Lasse Hallström's 2006 dramedy "The Hoax," starring Richard Gere. The following year, Gummer starred in the drama "Evening," an adaptation of the book by Susan Minot. She played the younger version of her mother's character Lila Wittenborn. Gummer went on to appear in the war drama "Stop-Loss" and the Tennessee Williams-based "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond," both released in 2008. She then had roles in two 2009 films: the historical musical dramedy "Taking Woodstock" and the period romance "The Lightkeepers." In 2010, Gummer starred in the drama "Twelve Thirty" and John Carpenter's supernatural horror film "The Ward."

Next, from 2010 to 2015, she played the recurring role of Nancy Crozier on the CBS legal drama series "The Good Wife." During that period of time, Gummer had main roles on two short-lived medical dramas: ABC's "Off the Map," on which she played Dr. Mina Minard, and the CW's "Emily Owens, M.D.," on which she starred as the titular surgical intern. Gummer also made appearances in episodes of "A Gifted Man," "The Big C," and "Elementary." In 2015, she played the recurring part of Nora in the second season of the drama series "Manhattan," and in 2016 starred as Helen Sabine on the short-lived Amazon Prime Video period drama "The Collection."
