He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Blackstone Group which is a New York based global asset management firm. Jonathan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School of Business. Gray joined Blackstone's Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity group in 1992. He became Co-Head of the Real Estate group in 2005 and in 2011 was named Global Head of Real Estate. Blackstone's real estate business has $80 billion of investor capital under their management.

He donated $10 million to purchase a Manhattan building for the organization. Jonathan married Mindy Basser in 1995. The couple founded the Basser oResearch Center in 2012 and donated $25 million to create the Center which focuses on cancer research.
