Enrico Colantoni was born on February 14, 2063 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to parents Gina and Quintino Colantoni. His mother was a garment worker while his father worked as a laborer and truck driver. Both of his parents were immigrants from Abruzzo, Italy. He grew up with his brother, Hector, who later became a police officer with the Toronto Police Service.
After high school, Colantoni attended the University of Toronto where he studied psychology and sociology. He then transferred to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City after he decided he wanted to pursue a career in acting. He graduated from the school in 1985. He later enrolled and then graduated from the Yale School of Drama where he was a recipient of the Carol Dye Award.
Career
Colantoni began his career by working in television. His first onscreen role came in 1987 when he appeared in an episode of "Night Heat" and an episode of "Friday the 13th: The Series." His next roles came in 1994 when he appeared in episodes of "Law & Order," "New York Undercover," and "NYPD Blue."

He has been heavily involved with The Tema Conter Memorial Trust, an organization that assists first responders and other service personnel who are dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder. He became the official spokesperson for the organization and has been involved in their annual tribute gala in Toronto every year since.
Additionally, he has also been involved in the Companion Animal Protection Society's campaign to boycott commercial pet stores. He has been involved with the creation of a video from the organization to raise awareness about the topic.
