What is Darwin Deason's Net Worth?
Darwin Deason is an American businessman who has a net worth of $1.1 billion. Darwin Deason, best known as the founder of Affiliated Computer Services, has made the classic turn from rugs to riches, earning every cent of his wealth all by himself. A longtime Dallas resident, Deason was raised as a farm boy by a poor family who didn't have a dollar to spare for movies. Not being able to pay for his education, Deason's dad had only $50 dollars and a 1949 Pontiac to give to his son who just graduated from high school. But it was enough for Deason to head for the "bright lights, big city" of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he soon landed a job at Gulf Oil. Few years later, he joined the Dallas data-processing firm MTech, which he managed to take over after all but his division failed.
He became a CEO at the age of 29, sold MTech in 1988 and in few days set up Affiliated Computer Services to offer computer and other business process services to clients such as E-ZPass. Initially, ACS handled data services for the finance industry, but under Deason's leadership, the company has gone through major expansions. It started working for other sectors and industries such as education, government, financial services, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, travel, transportation, insurance and communication. Later on, he took ACS public before selling it to Xerox for $6.4 billion in 2010. Deason and his fifth wife, Katerina, 27 years his junior, now both enjoy in his riches, mainly splitting their time between Dallas, San Diego and their 205-foot yacht "Apogee."
