Television Career

In 1994, Watros had her career breakthrough with her first major television role: nurse Annie Dutton on the CBS soap opera "Guiding Light." The character began as a heroine before gradually descending into crazed villainy, a dramatic arc that earned Watros critical acclaim and a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. In 1998, her final year on the show, she briefly appeared on another soap opera, "Another World," filling in for actress Jensen Buchanan.

Watros had her next major role from 2000 to 2002, starring as Erin Fitzpatrick opposite Christoper Titus on the Fox sitcom "Titus." Following the cancellation of that show, Watros replaced Christa Miller in the role of Kellie Newmark on the ABC sitcom "The Drew Carey Show." She played that role for the show's final two seasons from 2002 to 2004. Subsequently, from 2005 to 2006, Watros played psychologist Libby Smith in the second season of the ABC mystery drama series "Lost." She later returned as the character in seasons four and six in a guest-starring capacity. Before the end of "Lost" in 2010, Watros appeared in episodes of such shows as "Raines," "Fear Itself," "In Plain Sight," "Gossip Girl," "The Closer," and "Men of a Certain Age."

Kicking off the 2010s, Watros played Samantha Carr, one of the ex-wives of Dr. James Wilson, on the medical drama "House." She also made guest appearances on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and "Desperate Housewives." In 2012, Watros had guest roles on "Grey's Anatomy" and "Hawaii Five-0," and starred in the Hallmark Hall of Fame ABC television film "A Smile as Big as the Moon." The following year, she joined the cast of the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" as Kelly Andrews, but left in early 2014 due to her character being recast. Watros subsequently played the main role of Elizabeth Wilson on the MTV teen drama series "Finding Carter" from 2014 to 2015. She followed that with a string of television films, including "Stolen from the Suburbs," "Washed Away," and "Deadly Exchange." In 2019, Watros took over the role of Nina Reeves from Michelle Stafford on the soap opera "General Hospital," as Stafford was returning to "The Young and the Restless."
